The Princess of Shoreditch

I have been several times to the pub, on the ground floor of the Princess but have never tried the restaurant upstairs. The pub has a very relaxed atmosphere, with a beautiful bar, grey/green walls and high ceilings. I would like to decorate my dining room (if I had one) like the pub at the Princess of Shoreditch. The Princess serves gastropub classics (pie of the day, sausage and mash, fish and chips...) including a delicious rib on the bone.

For starter, a pint of pear cider.

Then, pig cheeks melting in the mouth. I personally love pig and beef cheeks but don't know where to buy them. Anyone has a tip?

And delicious braised venison in a thick sauce. Not a light meal though, with the puff pastry and the vegs being wrapped in bacon and deep-fried...

Desserts were not memorable and we ordered the usual suspects, a chocolate fondant and a Crème brulée that was too thick to my taste.

What is better than a burger? A Haché burger!

If you happen to be in Camden Town, don't hesitate to pay a visit to Haché on Inverness Market. This eatery offers around 30 different burgers, including chicken, fish, lamb and even duck burgers, and has been named best burger in town by Timeout.

Service is fast and friendly and portions are generous; there is no need to order one side per person unless you want to challenge man vs. food.

Steak Spanish: roasted red pepper and goat cheese

Steak Catalan: chorizo sausage, fresh chilli and tomato jam

Steak blue cheese: mature Stilton cheese

Sicilian: parma ham and mozzarella cheese

with an Onion Bhaji and sweet and spicy mango chutney

We also ordered gherkins, potato wedges, Haché chunky chips and onion rings. I would not recommend the onion rings which were huge and greasy. Everything else was absolutely delicious.

Cost: £ 8.95 for a beef burger, £2-4 for sides (1 portion of potato wedges is enough for 2-3 people)
